How to Add a Travel Policy
You can add travel policies on the Company Policies page.
Click the Add Travel Policy button to start building the new rule.
Name your policy and click Save to continue.
In the policy builder, you'll see options to add rules for Flight, Hotel, and Car Rentals.
Policies consist of two main components: Triggers and Actions.
The easiest way to explain triggers and actions is through a few examples.
Example Trigger |
Example Action |
When price is above $500... |
Require approval from manager |
When the cabin is First Class... |
Don't show any results |
When the employee books a hotel... |
Charge the hotel on our company card |
When travel is booked outside the country... |
Require employee to fill out a field explaining why |
When booking car rentals... |
Only show company negotiated rates |
Triggers
Triggers are the travel criteria that you're trying to target (e.g. pricing above a certain amount, flying a certain airline, flying to a certain region, etc.)
To one, click the Add Trigger button in the policy rule.
You will be presented with a dropdown of all the possible triggers for the associated travel category.
Actions
Actions are things that happen once a trigger has been activated. To add one, click the Add Action button in the policy rule.
You will be presented with a dropdown of all the possible actions for the associated travel category.
To summarize, when a trigger is activated, it performs the actions associated with the trigger. Triggers and actions are a very flexible and enable you to build almost any policy you want.
