Expensify Integration
You can manage all integrations on the Company Settings page
The Expensify integration automatically sends your NexTravel receipts to Expensify. This provides you with more insight into each expense report.
Enable the Expensify integration
On the Company Settings page, click the button next to the integration.

There are currently no configuration options for the integration. The integration will start working immediately.
Send receipts to Expensify
You can view and send receipts on the Company Trips page
Most receipts are sent automatically to the purchaser's Expensify account.
The purchaser is the person who added the credit card which was used for the reservation.
Please note that receipts are only automatically sent for items where the cost is exact. This is done to prevent inaccurate reporting. You can find the definitive list of scenarios below.
TRAVEL TYPE | RECEIPT AMOUNT / DATE | SENT TO EXPENSIFY |
---|---|---|
Flight | Exact | Automatic |
Prepaid Hotel | Exact | Automatic |
Postpaid Hotel | Approximate | Manual |
Car Rental | Approximate | Manual |
Open Booking | Approximate | Manual |
If you want to force a receipt to send for orders with approximate charges, you can always click the
button next to the order on the Trips Page.

Synchronizing Expensify Tags
If you use Tags within Expensify, you can synchronize these tags between NexTravel and Expensify.
Custom report fields set up in NexTravel get automatically sent and synchronized as tags in Expensify. Some example uses include:
- Employee ID
- Conference code
- Trip purpose
- Billable / Non-Billable
By setting up custom report fields in NexTravel, we will always include the custom report field in the receipts sent to Expensify. These fields will get synchronized with the tags in your Expensify report.
Keep in mind that for the tags to work seamlessly, the name of the Custom Report Field in NexTravel has to match the name of the Tag in Expensify.
Update the Company Credit Card Owner
By default, the admin that added the company credit card will be listed as the card owner in NexTravel. This means that receipts associated with the company credit card will auto-send to that user in Expensify.
You can update the Card Owner in NexTravel by going to Company Settings, select the card in question and click Edit, select the new Card Owner and click Save.
Disable Expensify
You can disable the Expensify Integration by clicking the
button next to the integration.
