Many airlines have introduced a Basic Economy fare, which is cheaper compared to regular economy but do not allow for cancellations, exchanges, seat selections, and restricts your carry-on luggage.

 

These flights are denoted with a warning message on the flight results page.

 

 

Hide Basic Economy in search results

If you do not want to see Basic Economy fares, you can select the filter to hide all Basic Economy flights.

 

 

Once enabled, all Basic Economy fares will be hidden from your results.

Turning Off Basic Economy

If you want to permanently hide Basic Economy flights, please speak to your company administrator about getting a travel policy set up which will hide all Basic Economy flights.

 

Can I Upgrade a Basic Economy Flight to Economy?

Most basic economy flights are not able to be upgraded. There are a few exceptions, but here are the main rules: 

Delta Basic Economy

International (class E) - Cannot be upgraded

Domestic (class E) - Cannot be upgraded 

American Basic Economy

International (class B) - Can be upgraded directly with the airline or through NexTravel when traveling to certain countries, for a fee.

Domestic (class B) - Cannot be upgraded

United Basic Economy 

International (class K or N, there are a few others chosen at random by the airline) - Can be upgraded directly with the airline for a fee. 

Domestic (class N) - Cannot be upgraded
