Troubleshooting for Approval Issues (Admin)
If you are an admin and you notice that your approval flow isn't working for one or more of your travelers, this article can help you identify potential issues and how to solve them.
Most likely, you will need to check each traveler’s policy and update the approvals flow with the correct process.
Step #1
Start by pulling up your "Employees" list and identify the traveler experiencing issues with approvals.
Step #2
Make sure the traveler is assigned to a policy and manager.
If the employee is not assigned to a policy, you can set up approvals by assigning them a policy and an approving manager within the employees list.
Step #3
Pull up the traveler’s policy and check the approvals flow.
If approvals have not been set up or if approvals are being sent to the wrong person, you can update the policy to solve the problem.
When the line says "send approval email to" "manager," then the approval email will be sent to the manager designated in the "employees" list.
If you would like approvals to go to someone other than the traveler’s assigned manager you can select another approver.
Please note that if you are experiencing an issue with a candidates approval flow, then you will need to check their individual travel policy in the "Hire" section. Their policy can be edited independently of the company policy.
Step #4
Check for a backup approver.
If you wish, you can assign someone to approve travel after a certain amount of time if the approval has not been completed by the primary approver.
Note that in order for backup approvals to function, you must have an initial approval action set up first. i.e. in order to have a "send delayed approval email to" rule, you must first have created an action that says "send approval email to" in Step #3.
